Since its inception and organization in l982, the LOW Players has been contributing to the cultural enrichment of the Lake of the Woods community. From its initial production, The Curious Savage, some twenty-five years ago, forty-five shows have been presented to supportive and appreciative audiences. This dedicated group has continued to grow and flourish. Growth involved having to construct a stage twice a year in their very busy clubhouse to finally getting their own stage in 2006 in a newly built Community Center.
Productions over the years have included such classics as Blithe Spirit and Barefoot in the Park; mysteries as Ten Little Indians and House on the Cliff, an assortment of the ever-laughable Neil Simon comedies; dramas such as Steel Magnolias and The Cemetery Club; as well as popular musicals such as The Music Man, Annie, Nuncrackers and The Sound of Music.
The organization produces two shows during the year -
spring and fall. Almost all members are involved in one or more aspects
of the presentation. In addition to the actors, behind-the-scene chores
are many involving properties, wardrobe, makeup, lighting, audio, publicity,
ticket sales, ushering, etc.
The LOW Players always welcome newcomers be they "star
material", stage crew volunteers, or just have an affinity for "Little
Theatre". The organization meets every second Wednesday of each
month in the Clubhouse. Annual dues are $10.
